Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between CAD/CAM blocks and press ingots?
CAD/CAM blocks are milled from a digital restoration design. Press ingots are heat-pressed into an investment mold made from a wax pattern. Blocks fit a digital milling workflow; ingots fit a laboratory pressing workflow. The main difference is how the restoration is produced.
Do fully crystallized blocks need firing after milling?
No separate crystallization firing is needed after milling. Polishing produces the surface finish, while staining and glazing provide an additional characterization route with its own firing step. Glaze firing is separate from crystallization.
Is lithium disilicate compatible with my milling machine?
Compatibility is determined by the machine model, holder and glass-ceramic milling program. Blocks and discs use different holder formats. Send us your machine model and preferred material format, and we can help identify the matching product options.
Can fully crystallized blocks be stained and glazed?
Fully crystallized materials can have a staining and glazing route in addition to polishing. Staining adds shade characterization and surface detail; glazing creates a glazed surface finish. The compatible finishing system and firing schedule are specific to the material.
Which CAD/CAM block sizes are available?
KEKR CAD/CAM blocks are available in C14, B40 and A16 formats. Each format has its own dimensions, shade and translucency options. Select the format to match the restoration size and your machine's holder.
View Block OptionsDoes the block color represent the final restoration shade?
For blocks that require crystallization, the initial block color changes during firing to develop the final shade and translucency. Fully crystallized blocks are already in their crystallized state. Restoration thickness, polishing and surface characterization also influence the finished appearance.
